- makes continual, unwelcomed sexual advances,
- requests for sexual favors, and
- verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature to another, against his or her wishes.
They could come in diverse forms from the family to the workplace.

Are you being harassed?
- Know your rights.
- Speak out at the time it happens.
- Keep records (Dates, times, places and an account of what happened.)
Write down the name of any witness.
- Identify an advocate.
- Write a letter (should be polite, unemotional and detailed.)
- Report sexual harassment to the appropriate person in the organization (Family or Work)

Examples of Sexual harassment
- Unwanted jokes, gestures, offensive words on clothing, and unwelcome comments
- Touching or any other bodily contact
- Repeated requests for dates that are always turned down
- Transmitting or posting emails containing nudity
- Displaying sexually suggestive objects, pictures or posters.
- Playing sexually suggestive music.
- Sexual comments about your body.
- Sexual advances/propositions/suggestions.
- Sexual graffiti
- Sexual “dirty” jokes
- Talking of one’s own sexual activities in front of others.
- Showing offensive/sexual pictures, stories, objects.

I have been sexually harassed. What can I do to stop it?
- If you’re comfortable doing so, you can speak directly to the harasser and ask him/her to stop the behavior that is making you uncomfortable.
- You can ask an academic or administrative officer for assistance.
- You can file a formal or informal complaint with the relevant authorities. If you are being harassed at work, you could resolve the situation by telling your supervisor, human resources representative.

If you are being harassed at home, walk up to one of your most respected elderly family member, telling him/her what has being going on, briefing the person of how is has been, the dates, times, venues, any key witness to that.

Stand strong, don’t die in silence, and fight this scourge with all passion.

God Bless You.

Peer Influences

Peers influence your life, even if you don’t realize it, just by spending time with you. You learn from them, and they learn from you. It’s only human nature to listen to and learn from other people in your age group.

Peers can have a positive influence on each other. For instance another student in your science class taught you an easy way to remember the planets in the solar system, or someone on the soccer team taught you a cool trick with the ball. You might admire a friend who is always a good sport and try to be more like him or her. Maybe you got others excited about your new favourite book, and now everyone’s reading it. These are examples of how peers positively influence each other every day.

Sometimes peers influence each other in negative ways. For example, a few kids in school might try to get you to cut class with them, your soccer friend might try to convince you to be mean to another player and never pass her the ball, or a kid in the neighbourhood might want you to shoplift with him.

Why Do People Give in to Peer Pressure?

Some kids give in to peer pressure because they want to be liked, to fit in, or because they worry that other kids may make fun of them if they don’t go along with the group. Others may go along because they are curious to try something new that others are doing. The idea that “everyone’s doing it” may influence some kids to leave their better judgment, or their common sense, behind.

How to Walk Away From Peer Pressure

It is tough to be the only one who says “no”, but you can do it. Paying attention to your own feelings and beliefs about what is right and wrong can help you know the right thing to do. Inner strength and self-confidence can help you stand firm, walk away, and resist doing something when you know better.

It can really help to have at least one other peer, or friend, who is willing to say “no,” too. This takes a lot of the power out of peer pressure and makes it much easier to resist. It’s great to have friends with values similar to yours who will back you up when you don’t want to do certain things.

You’ve probably had a parent or teacher advise you to “choose your friends wisely.” Peer pressure is a big reason why they say this. If you choose friends who don’t use drugs, cut class, smoke cigarettes, or lie to their parents, then you probably won’t do these things either, even if other kids do. Try to help a friend who’s having trouble resisting peer pressure. It can be powerful for one kid to join another by simply saying, “I’m with you - let’s go.”

Even if you’re faced with peer pressure while you’re alone, there are still things you can do. You can simply stay away from peers who pressure you to do stuff you know is wrong. You can tell them “no” and walk away. Better yet, find other friends and classmates to pal around with.

If you continue to face peer pressure and you’re finding it difficult to handle, talk to someone you trust. Don’t feel guilty if you’ve made a mistake or two. Talking to a parent, teacher, or school counsellor can help you feel much better and prepare you for the next time you face peer pressure.

Powerful, Positive Peer influence

Peer pressure is not always a bad thing. For example, positive peer pressure can be used to pressure bullies into acting better toward other kids. If enough kids get together, peers can pressure each other into doing what’s right!
How to Combat Peer Pressure

Peer pressure is one thing that all teens have in common. You can’t escape it — it is everywhere. No matter how popular you are, how well liked you may be or how together you feel, sooner or later you will have to face peer pressure.

Whether it is pressure to conform to a group norm (like wearing certain types of clothes or taking part in specific activities and clubs) or pressure to act (like having sex, trying drugs or alcohol, or alienating another teen), peer pressure is something everybody has to deal with at some time in their life. How successfully you handle peer pressure depends a great deal on how you feel about yourself and your place in the world. There are certain “risk factors” for peer pressure, personality traits that make you more prone to give in to peer pressure. The traits that put you at higher risk for falling in to the peer pressure trap include;

* Low self esteem
* Lack of confidence
* Uncertainty about ones place within a given peer group
* No personal interests exclusive of one’s peer group
* Feeling isolated from peers and/or family
* Lack of direction in life
* Depression
* Eating disorders
* Poor academic abilities or performance
* Fear of one’s peers
* Lack of strong ties to friends, feeling that friends could turn on you easily or with little reason
* Close bond with a bully

How do you prepare yourself to face peer pressure and win? The answer is simple.

* Prepare yourself ahead of time for uncomfortable situations, mentally script out the reaction you WANT to have in a given situation (the reation that goes AGAINST peer pressure) and play that script out in your head over and over again.
* Know where you stand on key issues like sex, drugs and alcohol and do not allow anybody to make you deviate from your position.
* Do not allow yourself to seek comfort in making other people feel bad or sad, flatly refuse to take part in anything designed to cause harm or distress to another person and speak up when/if such a situation arises. You do not have to be angry or confrontational, a comment like “lets not bother with this” or “why do we need to do this” is usually enough to inspire others who are uncomfortable to stand up and be counted.
* Think of yourself as a leader and act accordingly. The more you see yourself in a leadership role the more comfortable you will feel asserting your own opinions and feelings.
* Refuse to let yourself down! Often when we give in to peer pressure it hurts already fragile self esteem creating a vicious circle. If you think of giving in to peer pressure as letting yourself down it becomes easier to combat and your confidence will earn you respect.

When ugly situations arise and peer pressure kicks in to high gear it is very easy to get caught up in the moment and forget that you will have to live with the choices you make. If you are not comfortable with those choices or if you give in and do something that is contrary to your character or core value system it will cause you distress later and you will feel regret. When peer pressure rears its ugly head try to focus on that reality rather than the short term effects of standing up for what you think is right. Peers may seem unpleasant when you speak up against the group but that initial reaction will blow over and you will likely find that you were not so alone in your feelings and that others will admire you for doing what you felt was right. Peer pressure only works if you let it, if you refuse to let it intimidate you it loses its power. The secret is to assert yourself without becoming preachy or self-righteous. Stand your ground but refrain from standing on a soap box. Remember, peer pressure can only bite you if you let it.

Everyone needs to belong - to feel connected with others and be with others who share attitudes, interests, and circumstances that resemble their own. People choose friends who accept and like them and see them in a favorable light.

Teens want to be with people their own age - their peers. During the teen years, teens spend more time with their peers and without parental supervision. With peers, teens can be both connected and independent, as they break away from their parents’ images of them and develop identities of their own.

While many families help teens in feeling proud and confident of their unique traits, backgrounds, and abilities, peers are often more accepting of the feelings, thoughts, and actions associated with the teen’s search for self-identity.

The influence of peers - whether positive or negative - is of critical importance in your teen’s life. Whether you like it or not, the opinions of your child’s peers often carry more weight than yours.

Positive Peer Influence

The ability to develop healthy friendships and peer relationships depends on a teen’s self-identity, self-esteem, and self-reliance.

At its best, peer pressure can mobilize your teen’s energy, motivate for success, and encourage your teen to conform to healthy behavior. Peers can and do act as positive role models. Peers can and do demonstrate appropriate social behaviors. Peers often listen to, accept, and understand the frustrations, challenges, and concerns associated with being a teenager.

Encourage Healthy and Positive Relationships

It is important to encourage friendships among teens. We all want our children to be with persons who will have a positive influence, and stay away from persons who will encourage or engage in harmful, destructive, immoral, or illegal activities.

Parents can support positive peer relationships by giving their teenagers their love, time, boundaries, and encouragement to think for themselves.

Specifically, parents can show support by:

* Having a positive relationship with your teen. When parent-teen interactions are characterized by warmth, kindness, consistency, respect, and love, the relationship will flourish, as will the teen’s self-esteem, mental health, spirituality, and social skills.
* Being genuinely interested in your teen’s activities. This allows parents to know their teen’s friends and to monitor behavior, which is crucial in keeping teens out of trouble. When misbehavior does occur, parents who have involved their children in setting family rules and consequences can expect less flack from their children as they calmly enforce the rules. Parents who, together with their children, set firm boundaries and high expectations may find that their children’s abilities to live up to those expectations grow.
* Encouraging independent thought and expression. In this way, teens can develop a healthy sense of self and an enhanced ability to resist peer pressure.

When Parents Don’t Approve

You may not be comfortable about your son or daughter’s choice of friends or peer group. This may be because of their image, negative attitudes, or serious behaviors (such as alcohol use, drug use, truancy, violence, sexual behaviors).

Here are some suggestions:

* Get to know the friends of your teen. Learn their names, invite them into your home so you can talk and listen to them, and introduce yourself to their parents.
* Do not attack your child’s friends. Remember that criticizing your teen’s choice of friends is like a personal attack.
* Help your teen understand the difference between image (expressions of youth culture) and identity (who he or she is).
* Keep the lines of communication open and find out why these friends are important to your teenager.
* Check whether your concerns about their friends are real and important.
* If you believe your concerns are serious, talk to your teenager about behavior and choices — not the friends.
* Encourage your teen’s independence by supporting decision-making based on principles and not other people.
* Let your teen know of your concerns and feelings.
* Encourage reflective thinking by helping your teen think about his or her actions in advance and discussing immediate and long-term consequences of risky behavior.
* Remember that we all learn valuable lessons from mistakes.

No matter what kind of peer influence your teen faces, he or she must learn how to balance the value of going along with the crowd (connection) against the importance of making principle-based decisions (independence).

And you must ensure that your teen knows that he or she is loved and valued as an individual at home.

One of my most inspiring scriptures in the bible is Proverbs chap. 4. It deals with quite a number of subjects but in verses 23 and24 it talks about the mind; the need to keep our minds free from contamination. it says guard your mind with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life.

A lot has been said, written and researched on the power of the mind yet, it is one aspect of a human being that so many have been unable to comprehend and maximise. Some have abused or misused their own mind while others have seriously under utilised their minds. The mind is a terrible thing to waste. Many are wasting their minds.

Sometimes I get a nudge in me from the Spirit of God to pay attention to some things I would otherwise have overlooked. I was riding in a bus one day when I heard Him say “change your mind and you will change your life”.

That got me thinking. To change your mind one of the things you need to do is to change your environment. It is often said that a man is the product of his environment. Here I must say that your environment is not just your physical environment.

Sometimes to change your mind you need to change your environment because some of the limitations we have are placed on us by our immediate environment. What are those things that constitute our environment?

These are the things we will be looking at the next time we meet.

As I sit down to write this maiden edition on the “Shape a Life” website, my heart goes out to several young people out there who really desire to make it in life. They want to make it big but somehow don’t know how to go about it. My heart goes out to the young man or woman who looks at the world and everything in it seems to be going at such a fast pace that you can hardly catch your breath. You seem to be in a vast land without a compass, but I have come your way today to redirect you to the compass. Yes, there is a compass, which is very obvious and audible; the only challenge is that you are too consumed with the desire to ‘make it’ that you have completely ignored the compass. You have become so overwhelmed with where you are that the noise is so loud and this has made the compass completely inaudible to you.

Now what is a compass? A compass is a tiny object that:

1. Shows you where you are (locates you)

2. Shows you where you are going (directs you)

Now, going by the size of the compass, the ignorant person will probably throw it into the sea when the storm arises, but the sailor will rather throw everything else into the sea but not the compass, because he knows that as long as he has the compass, it might only take him some time, he will get to his destination. My desire for you, dear reader, is that you will get to your destination, and all that you dream to become will come to pass.

There is a Kenyan adage which says, ‘The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago, but the second best time is now’. So, you might have missed planting the tree 20 years ago, but I have good news for you in this column. The morning starts just when you wake up, so wake up today and take advantage of the second best time to plant the tree, and that is NOW! Don’t let one more moment slip past you, you can make it, you will make it and not only that, you will in turn show others the way. That’s because you are on your way to being the role model that you have always dreamt to be; the reference point everyone is happy to identify with, the son or daughter every parent dreams and prays to have.

Let us look at the compass a little more closely and attempt to find the compass for our lives. The compass like I said has two main functions: It tells you where you are, and it directs you to where you are going.

The compass in you is your spirit. There is something about the human spirit that you cannot explain. It has the capacity to discern right from wrong. Stop and think for a minute, can you think back to when you were about to do something wrong and a voice from deep within you was condemning you? Can you remember the times you decided to sleep off in the room when lectures were going on and a voice from deep within you could not allow you rest? Or can you remember when you were about to spend your last dime on a drink and you felt a very strong urge to save it. That is your compass giving you direction.

Now you need to know that your actions today determine where you are tomorrow, but the good thing is that your actions yesterday have become history and history has no power over you. Your history can only do to you, what you allow it to. If you allow your yesterday to haunt you to the extent that you cannot lift your face today, then it is your fault, you simply empowered your past. Rather than sit down crying over the spilt milk of yesterday, I challenge you to go all out and buy yourself another cow today so that you can enjoy fresh milk tomorrow.

You might succeed in deceiving everybody. You can claim to be what you are not and no one around you will immediately discover, but there is one person you cannot deceive and that is yourself. Your spirit knows exactly where you are. The spirit of a man is likened to a candle that has the capacity to show you the way in the midst of darkness, but that can only happen if your candle is lit.

How then do you light the candle of your spirit so it can be the true guide? The first thing to do is to align your spirit with the laws of the Creator. Everything created is for a purpose and the best person to explain the use of a thing, is its creator. The same thing applies to man, and this point is critical; you must make out quality time to seek your Creator, for only He can show you where you truly are, and direct you to where you are going. I recommend getting up very early in the morning every day to seek the face of your Creator, and to spend time in His presence. There, your spirit will begin to receive the illumination and direction it needs to give real meaning to your life.

So until I come your way again in the next edition, make excellent use of your compass and go for it! You can do it!

Impacting lives and fulfilling purpose

“if you do what you can with what you have,
where you are , then God won’t leave you where you are,
He will increase you”—Bill Purns.

Failure can be defined as a lack of success. It can also refer to an unsuccessful person or thing, non-performance, breaking down or ceasing to function. It is the most dreaded enemy of anyone who desires to succeed. Undeniably, everyone desires to succeed and nobody wants to fail. The philosophical truth, however is that success and failure almost always go together like Siamese twins.

There are many ways to be a winner, but there is only one way to be a loser and that is to fail and not look beyond the failure. Many youngsters today think more of failure than they do of success, which is ominous. If you are afraid of failure, it becomes very difficult to succeed, because the ensnaring thoughts of failure becloud your mind.

Interestingly, there are ways to surmount this dreaded enemy of ours or rather fail forward towards your goal. Many today, fail, fall and never rise again. This makes them lean more towards being total failures. But failing, falling and rising again makes you fail forward towards your goal in life. You might have heard several times that falling down doesn’t actually make you a failure, but staying down does, because it’s a way of saying I have been broken and for that reason I am going to cease functioning. Going by scriptural truths, you have the grace to fall and rise seven times in a season of time. The fall implied here is synonymous to failure. Some have not even failed once yet they are afraid of failure, while some have failed once or twice, and they are afraid of trying again just because they want to avoid been ridiculed by the people around. This is not the right approach to life.

The fear of failure is the greatest single obstacle to success in adult life. You must strive never to allow failure become an option in your quest for success. If at all you happen to fail, regard it as the price you have to pay for progress. If you can do that, you will put yourself in a better position to fail forward. To fail forward, you must also be able to pass the persistence test. Persistence is the iron quality of character, which is essential for good success. Persistence is absolutely indispensable, because it goes hand in hand with all great success in life. It is the continuous effort you put towards achieving your goal in spite of obstacles or inconveniences.

Another tool which is very useful in failing forward towards your goal is to aim at freeing your mind from the limitations of the memories of past failure. Reminiscing on failures of the past should not be an option in your life, because these thoughts could weigh you down. According to Bill Newman, a reputable motivational writer, it is easier to lie on a couch digging into the past, than to sit on a chair facing the future. He asserts that preoccupation with the past is a retreat, advising thus; “be careful with those memories of the past, they can trap you in mud and make you incapable of moving forward. Invest your time thinking positively, it’s the source of power.

Finally, you must learn how to manage failure in your life and maintain flexibility of approach so that success can be yours. If you don’t believe that failures are meant for your benefit, you will be held captive by mediocrity. ALWAYS BELIEVE YOU CAN.

Do you want to put a smile on someone’s face? Maybe make their day a little bit brighter? It doesn’t have to take much time or money on your part. In fact, many things can be done as a part of your normal routine and cost little or nothing. You won’t know how many people are encouraged by your kindness because smiles are contagious. Try out one or more of these 7 ways today to put smiles on their faces.

Write an encouraging note to others who have encouraged you or who need encouragement. Handwritten notes that are given to encourage, not just for thanking someone for a gift, are rare. That makes handwritten notes even more special. Start a new practice of sitting down and writing an encouraging note on a regular basis. You just might start an epidemic!

Take a friend out to lunch or invite her to your home for a meal. You will get to know each other even better than you do right now. If you feel like being more adventurous, throw a party for several of your friends and put smiles on a multitude of faces.

Give someone an inspirational book to read. You will feel good doing it, reading the book will change the person, and they will think of you every time they read it.

Ask a friend or relative if you can take care of their kid(s) for a day or evening. If you have been a parent, you know the value of being able to have a few hours of “adult time” without worrying about the children. Don’t wait to be asked to baby-sit when it is required. Offer to do it at a time when the parent can do something fun and relaxing.

Deliver a meal to someone you know who is sick or having a rough time. We have all been sick and know the last thing you want to do is be out of bed. There are also times when life is tough and it is hard to do all of the daily chores. You can be a tremendous help by providing a meal that can be enjoyed.

Volunteer time to supporting your local church or charity. Every minute you dedicate to a church or charity will cause many smiles. You will put a smile on the face of each leader just for helping without being asked. You will also be putting smiles on the faces of those who are being helped through the organization.

Thank everyone who supports you throughout the day. The list of those who you come in contact with is endless. Remember family and friends, secretaries, co-workers, teachers, Sunday school teachers, pastors, store employees, janitors, gas station attendants, those who deliver your mail and newspaper, and servers at restaurants.

I know this is a list of 7 ways to put a smile on someone’s face, but there is one more way that can’t be ignored. Reveal a genuine smile to everyone you meet. You will experience how easy it is to get others to smile!

Being young could be a whole lot of fun for most teens in today’s times. I remember way back when I was much younger, I wished I didn’t have to go to school, attend classes and very importantly Read! I wished that I could spend a considerable part of the day playing with my friends and talking with that ‘special’ girl that always got me nervous whenever she came into a room I was in. J

At home, I wished that all I had to do was just to watch TV, play computer games, sleep a lot, eat a lot more and not have to do any household chores. If my wishes had come true at that time, I would have felt that was the best life I could have lived at that time. However, with the benefit of hindsight today, I realize that had my wish come true, I would have been a big loser today and would have hated myself for all the time I had wasted. Is it that having fun or enjoying one’s self is wrong? Not all… its just that over time, it has become clearer to me that one major thing that gets wasted and that cannot be replenished is time and what we make of our time determines our future. Think about it; what you are today is as a result of the decisions of yesterday; likewise, what you will be tomorrow will be as a result of what you are doing today. Everything that we do in life can be likened to a seed (that has a harvest eventually) and interestingly everything we do not do is a seed too. If you study hard and understand what you studied, you will perform well at school; likewise, if you do not invest time in studying, you can perform woefully at school. In physics (one course I really didn’t enjoy) we learnt that there is no effect without a cause. We all have dreams of what we want to become in life but what we become will actually be a result of what we are doing today. A successful business owner today is simply a man or woman who did what was required yesterday to become successful today. This leads me to my question to you; are you doing the required things today that will get you to the future that you desire? Are you aware that what you are doing today are the seeds for what you will be tomorrow?

If your answer to any of these questions is no, all hope is not lost… you can still make a change today. I will like to share a few steps you can take towards making this change. We’ll take this one step at a time:

What would you want to be in the next 10 years (Vision): You have probably heard the word ‘vision’ being used several times. In this context, we can define it as a mental picture of a desired future. When we were in elementary school, most of us said we would like to be a doctor, lawyer or some other prestigious profession. Today however, becoming a musician, sports celebrity or business owner sounds like a better idea. It’s sad to see so many people pursue careers only on the basis that it seems more glamorous and those in it seem to be making a lot of money. This is why we have so many people trying to wax a record and can’t sing to save their lives. In determining what you’ll become in the future, a lot is tied to your uniqueness in terms of your abilities and strengths. Everyone has something to offer, something that makes them unique. If you spend your time developing yourself in the area of your strengths, you will be more likely to succeed. If you spend a large chunk of the next ten years of your life on activities that bring out your uniqueness, it’s very likely that you will be very successful. It is also very important that I state that for you to fully come to an awareness of your abilities and strengths, the best person to ask is your creator. No one knows all about a product more than the manufacturer; likewise, no one understands you better than God. So I would like you to take out time to ask Him about what His plans have always been for you and also to seat down to identify areas that are your strengths so that you can start developing yourself in these areas. You can also ask your friends around you what they admire most about you or even what your strengths are.

This is an initial step but I believe it will go a long way in helping you discover yourself and making the most of time. We’ll talk about the next step in the next edition of this column. Till then, make the most of your time because your life is made up of years, your years are made up of months, your months are made up of days, your days are made up of hours, your hours are made of seconds and so wasted seconds result to a waste in life.

Making a trip this Easter or some other time soon? Then that’s one good decision you’ve made.Did I hear you say why? Well, because if you know how to set things right, for example planning ahead or setting goals, a trip, almost always, ‘adds’ to you.

Here’s how that happens:

You set out for a trip- say a fun trip, by road, by sea or by air (depending on your budget), you realize that almost every step of the way, you come across something or someone ‘new’. The same way we read books, and in the process widen our knowledge, we travel and expand our knowledge of people, places and cultures. Amazing isn’t it? In actual fact it’s first hand contact this time! And guess what? The more you relate with people of differing backgrounds, the more your confidence grows. You can’t be planning for instance to be President so and so in 10 or 20 years time and not know how to relate with people, situations and things. You may think that’s going far but it’s not. It’s about time we dropped off some of our ‘introvertish’ sides (for those who are so inclined) and do some real good exploring.

And if you just said to yourself, “surely she’s not talking to me”, then you just missed the whole point. If you’re a student, then, listen out or watch out for field trips organized by your school (some schools do that) or organize something with ‘good’ friends during your holiday. You don’t have to go somewhere far if it’s going to be too expensive; even a neighboring town may just do. The most important thing is having an opportunity to do something you’ve not done before or go somewhere you’ve not been before. It’s all about breaking limits and ‘pushing’ yourself.

There’s still so much more we can talk about where traveling is concerned; like learning a new language, and so much more…

If you keep visiting this site then you are sure to learn something extra.

But right now, don’t forget that traveling is good, if anything, for the singular fact that it brings people our way. And surely, we always need people (the right kind of people though) in our lives because like John Donne said, “NO MAN IS AN ISLAND entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent”.

Anyone who claims to be a leader but has no one following him is only taking a stroll. This is a paraphrased saying of a guru in leadership matters in our time, John C. Maxwell. What then is leadership? It is the uncanny ability to influence and impact a people. It is the capacity that one has developed over time to chart the course for a people and steer the boat towards same direction.

However, as much as leadership has to do with people, it does not start with people. It sure has to do with people but it starts with a person. It has to do with many but starts with a man.

This is the root cause of many failures in leadership positions today. Ranging from the political arena, to the business environment, to the leadership of a nation, even down to the family environment.

The missing point is this. Any man who will have to lead many successfully must have first been able to lead himself successfully.

A man was alone in his house with his lad. He needed to spend time in his study. However this lad of his will not allow him because of his incessant running around and disturbance. The man thought of what to do to keep the little boy busy and he arrived at a conclusion. He found a sheet of paper on which the map of the world was drawn, tore it into many pieces and asked the boy to arrange the pieces to form the map. This he thought will keep the boy busy at least for some while. To his amazement the lad did not spend half the time the dad thought he would have spent to finish the work and submit. When the dad found out how he was able to do it fast, he discovered that there was a picture of a man at the other side of the paper on which the map of the world was, which was what the lad concentrated his attention on.

What is the message here? If you can arrange and lead your [personal] world, then you can arrange and lead your [public] world. Private leadership precedes public leadership. Individual leadership comes before organizational/communal/societal leadership. What then is self leadership? It is that ability to catch a vision for ones life and self control oneself all the way to achieve that vision. The qualities you gather when leading yourself are the things that help when leading others. The primary cause for failures in leadership is that people have not succeeded in leading themselves.

LEAD YOURSELF WELL FOR YOUR WORLD IS WAITING FOR YOU TO LEAD HER.

See you at the top.

If a man has talent and cannot use it, he has failed. If he has a talent and learns somehow to use it, he has gloriously succeeded and has a satisfaction and a triumph few men ever know.

Thomas Wolf

If you deliberately plan on being less than you are capable of being, then I warn you that you will be unhappy for the rest of your life.

Abraham Maslow

The wealthiest places on earth are not the oil rich fields of Arabia, nor the diamond fields of Africa, nor the gold fields scattered around its world - the wealthiest places are the cemeteries - there lay souls and wasted books unwritten: musical cds unreleased, films unmade: companies unstarted.

Myles Munroe

Unless we are mindful of the fact that if we do not apply ourselves to life, we are liable to wasting our lives, it becomes inevitable that life will be wasted.

Many live and die without beginning to scratch the surface of life.

It is possible to pass through this earth without unwrapping the gift called you, talk less of unleashing and making that gift available for use by yourself and your generation.

These write ups will help you understand what life is all about and how you can position yourself so you can make the best of your life and not make a waste or a mess of it.

LIMITLESS IN DESIGN

You have powers you never dreamt of. You can do things you never thought you would do. There are no limitations in what you can do except the limitations of your own mind.

Darwin Kingsley

You are the only one who could put a limit to how far you can go and how much you can get done in life.

The creator designed his creation- man-with limitless enablement to create limitlessly and to grow without restrictions especially if the course being pursued and the life being lived are in line with his plan. Who would have thought that wonders like the internet and gsm were possibilities?

Literally on all fronts and in all fields of endeavour, breakthroughs are being achived and previous records are being broken, while new and better ones are being put in place. That’s how He has designed man-to be limitless in growth and accomplishments.

‘Now nothing will be withheld from them which they have imagined to do. Gen 11:6′

There is so much that man could do with the allowance called life, so so much. Degrees and trainings to acquire, books to write, schools to build, lives to touch, generation to serve, relationships to build and impacts to make. Don’t get satisfied too soon: don’t become complacent too early.

Teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts to wisdom

Dr. Chris Williams
